Superior Thermal Insulation for Consistent Asphalt Quality
Consistent asphalt temperature and material homogeneity are essential for producing durable road surfaces. Fliegl's integrated Isotherm thermal package protects the asphalt mix from heat loss with insulated sidewalls, floor, front wall, rear door, four temperature gauges, and an insulated sliding tarp system.
The real advantage of Fliegl's push-off technology, however, becomes evident during unloading. Unlike conventional end dumps or side dumps, the ASS 372 Mega unloads completely horizontally. As the material is mechanically pushed out, the asphalt is continuously remixed throughout the unloading process. This prevents temperature segregation, material separation, and cold spots within the asphalt.
This has become increasingly important as current regulations require asphalt to be produced and placed at lower temperatures to improve worker safety and reduce energy consumption. Lower-temperature asphalt significantly shortens the available transport and paving window. By continuously remixing the material during unloading, the ASS 372 Mega delivers consistently uniform asphalt to the paver - even at reduced delivery temperatures - providing maximum process reliability. The push-off system extends transport time while making it much easier to meet quality standards for warm-mix asphalt. Even demanding specialty mixes such as stone mastic asphalt (SMA), open-graded friction courses (OGFC), polymer-modified asphalt (PMA), and rubberized asphalt can be transported and placed without compromising quality. The result is a more consistent, higher-quality finished pavement.
Maximum Payload with a Low Center of Gravity
The thermally insulated body, manufactured from highly wear-resistant 450 HB steel, offers a payload volume of approximately 24 m³ (lightly heaped). Its exceptionally low center of gravity and low loading height provide multiple operational benefits. The trailer can be loaded efficiently even with smaller wheel loaders or excavators, while its excellent road stability improves handling during transport. Reduced braking before curves and smoother acceleration afterward help lower fuel consumption, reduce tire wear, and increase transport efficiency. Hydraulic efficiency is equally impressive, requiring only about 28.5 liters of hydraulic oil from the reservoir to complete an entire unloading cycle.
Safety First: Unloading Without the Risk of Tipping
Because the trailer body never needs to be raised during unloading, the vehicle's center of gravity remains low at all times. This allows asphalt to be placed safely on steep grades and beneath low-clearance obstacles. Risky operations under bridges, power lines, or dense tree cover are eliminated. The ASS 372 Mega can even be used during active airport operations since there is no raised dump body that could interfere with air traffic control radar systems.
Another major safety and productivity advantage is complete cleanout. Thanks to its precision scraping system, the trailer body empties completely—even when handling extremely sticky materials. Time-consuming and potentially hazardous manual cleaning of the trailer body is no longer necessary.
Equipped with Fliegl's intelligent ProSave control system, including wireless remote control, paver brake, lift axle, disc brakes, and aluminum wheels, the ASS 372 Mega is designed for maximum productivity. For applications requiring controlled hand placement of asphalt, such as municipal projects or forest road construction, the trailer can also be equipped with an optional dosing wedge.
